Prevention and Protection
When it comes to caring for the eye, prevention is essential.
- Schedule a comprehensive eye exam at least once a year for proper vision care.*
- Wear glasses and sunglasses with 100% UV protection to help prevent conditions such as cataracts and macular degeneration.
- Frequent headaches are a common symptom of eye problems. If you have them, consider getting an eye exam.*
- Don't put contact lenses in your mouth to clean them. Your mouth might contain bacteria and viruses that could easily spread to your eyes.

- Wear plastic safety glasses when mowing the yard, working in the shop, playing sports, or riding a motorcycle.
- Blink more. You can strain your eyes by staring at a computer screen for too long. Look up, blink, focus on something across the room, and then get back to business.
- If your eyes are dry and irritated, don’t use products that claim to soothe redness. Instead, use artificial tears.
