Behaviors That May Signify a Problem
Children have a difficult time recognizing whether they have a vision problem because they have no basis for comparison. There are several key signals that indicate vision problems:
- Rubbing of the eyes
- Complaining often of headaches
- Squinting
- Holding objects unusually close or far away
- Excessive blinking
- Favoring one eye by covering it or turning the head
- Eyes are not aligned or are not working together
- Eyes are red, swollen or encrusted
- Your child experiences recurring stys or infections on eyelids
