Then upon looking at my vision insurance card she informed me that they were not an in-service provider for my insurance and that the entire appointment would cost almost $200! I admit that I should have asked when I called to make the (non-existent) appointment if they were an in-service provider, but it was actually the first time I had tried to use my vision insurance for an exam for a prescription for contact lenses. On the other hand I feel that they should have asked me for more information about my insurance regarding the in-service provider info. I was not going to pay $200 just to get a prescription for some contact lenses, and particularly after my appointment request had not been scheduled. To say that I was not happy is an understatement, and walked out. By the time my exam finished around 6pm (the store was open until 7pm) the 3 employees were so preoccupied discussing their after work plans that I felt invisible standing in front of them at the counter. I was waiting to be handed my prescription release and offered the opportunity to make a contact lens purchase. The person who completed my exam spent several minutes packing up her things and took her time returning to the counter. She didn’t seem to recognize me or even notice me still standing there. She had my prescription release in her hand among all her personal belongings. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask if I was all set and she suddenly remembered she was still at work and apologized for not handing my prescription release over to me sooner. Then she went back to talking to her coworkers. I interrupted them again to ask if I could buy contacts and one of them brought me over to sit down at the sales desk. She took one look at my prescription and was like, have you worn these before? I was like, the sample pair is in my eyes right now (I’ve worn contacts for 8 years). She was like yeah… well a lot of people say they find this brand to be uncomfortable and we don’t recommend you purchase them today just in case you don’t like them. What kind of sales is that?!? I came here for contacts and the brand that was pitched to me (by the non-O.D.) was THEIR store brand. Then when I wanted to buy them, they told me no and that I should wait! I felt uncomfortable and went along with it. The whole reason I picked this place was because I thought they had a nice selection of frames, but I felt pressured to leave because they were all packed up and ready to leave themselves. I was the only customer left in the store and the service had been terrible throughout my visit, so I left without browsing the frames or purchasing contacts… A few weeks later, I decided to place an order with 1-800-contacts instead of calling them back. My order was deleted by 1-800-contacts because the non-O.D. neglected to enter my contact lens diameter on my prescription release. The section was left blank. I called Pearle Vision on a Saturday to ask them to fix it. The person who answered the phone said that only the person who did my exam could fix it and that I had to wait until she finished all her appointments on Monday for her to do so. Then I would be emailed a revised version of my prescription release on Monday. Well Monday came and went and I got no email. So long story short, I still have no contacts and I have a useless, incomplete contact lens prescription. The staff and customer service are horrible.
