My mother is 91, in a wheelchair and is unable to walk. Her glasses broke, and we had her prescription sent to the Waterford Pearle Vision Center to have new glasses made. Associate Saira was AMAZING, both on the phone leading up to our visit, and during our time there. She was courteous, knowledgeable, and thorough on the phone, and kept track of the status of the prescription, calling me when it had been received. When we went to the Center, Mom stayed in the car with my sister, and Saira and I picked out frame options - and Saira brought them out to the car, with a mirror, so my mom could try them all on. She was so patient and helpful, and made my mom feel at ease in this extenuating circumstance. Once we'd selected a frame, Saira marked them for the bifocal - also while Mom was in the car. Words cannot express my thankfulness to Saira, for being willing to go above and beyond her regular duties, and maybe even outside her comfort zone, to provide stellar care to my elderly mom. Saira even offered to put a rush on the order. I can't wait till they're ready so I can go back to the Center and say hello. First time, my vision with the new lenses was worse than my current glasses and I was told that they were made incorrectly, so they reordered. How does that make sense when my current 3-year-old glasses are better than what Pearle is trying to sell me? So much for the 100% satisfaction guarantee. In addition, during the eye exam, I was told that my eye had internal bleeding and I needed to see a specialist immediately. I went to their recommended specialist and after an extensive and very painful exam, nothing out of the ordinary was found. So, when the 2nd pair of glasses didn't work, they tried to send me to a different specialist with the same area of expertise as the first. Pearle refused to give me a second eye exam with a correct prescription and refused to give me a pair of glasses that I can see out of. They don't allow refunds, so they are forcing me to pay for and accept a subpar product that doesn't work for me. And they've used up my insurance benefits so that I can't go elsewhere without paying more out of pocket than I already have paid to Pearle. Drs. Goldberg were extremely rude and denied that there was anything further that they could do. They tried to say that they attempted to contact me prior to my appointment to obtain insurance info and this is a FLAT OUT lie. I had a total of 0 missed calls and/or voicemails from the office. This type of practice is not cost effective to healthcare and is unethical. I have overheard Dr. Goldberg publicly belittle customers in the past for having insurance issues and I thought nothing of it knowing that I have good vision coverage. I did not think that I would fall victim to their poor ethics and the attitude of profit over patient experience. $79 is not a lot of money to me but what I do find valuable is patient centered care that utilizes the ethical belief of cost-effective healthcare and emphasizes the patient experience. If you disappoint the customer, it is your duty to make it right. Pearle Vision’s mission/vision statement includes “caring for the people behind the eyes.” It would seem to me that the Goldberg’s do not align with the corporate values. I will not return to a Pearle Vision because of this experience.\n\nAs for the exam itself, it was the most rushed eye exam that I have ever experienced. Dr. Jill Goldberg was asking numbers, for example, 1 or 2, 3 or 4, before changing the dials and not timing the questions with the change in lenses. This was very confusing and I felt like a dollar in the seat rather than a patient. The faster the exam is complete, the faster the next dollar can be made. Bedside manner is poor here.\n\nFurthermore, I got in contact with my vision insurance. They said that they are a small company and there is only one person who answers calls. She reassured me that she has a good memory of which clinics call and she was adamant that nobody from Pearle Vision ever called her recently.
