Details: I went to this Pearle vision because they had the frames I was looking for and they took my insurance. I have top of the line vision insurance. First I will say the the guy who helped me was helpful friendly and knew what he was doing. My insurance covered the cost of the $270 frames completely. It also covered a fair amount of the other things. The total cost for these glasses with progressive lenses and all the coatings (which you can't opt out of) was just over $900. After insurance I still had to pay $430. What does this say about our country when a pair of glasses cost $900. That's as much as a nice set of tires! I live 3 hours away and needed the glasses to be shipped to me as taking one day off of work to get glasses is enough. As I paid for the glasses the guy helping me said that the shipping would be free. I thought that was nice as the glasses were so expensive.\n\nToday I got a call saying the glasses were ready for me to pick up and I told the guy that I needed them shipped to me. He said that it would be $42. I mentioned that I was told it would be free. He said no. I talked to the manager and he said no. I said that is what I was told and that he should honor it. He said he would pay half. After some back and forth, and still a no, I agreed. I need the glasses. Transferred back to the first guy who had a hard time comprehending my card info, but finally got it.\nI do not recommend this Pearle vision for the reasons mentioned above. If you do go there lube up, because you are going to get bent over.\n\nUpdate after the owners response: Nice AI edited response, or you're just getting good at it. The only response I have is, nice deflection and way to not take responsibility. I think the number of one star reviews says it all. Take heed if your thinking about going here.","updateTime":"2025-12-03T00:45:19.604159Z"},{"reviewer":"Dan Sova","starRating":"ONE","comment":"A total sham - book an appointment on the weekend and they REQURE you buy the glasses BEFORE the exam????? Never was told about it before the appointment or included in the text or email. Just by the angry at the world owner, who is completely unreasonable.\n\nJust to clarify - if you have an appointment on the weekend the owner REQUIRES that you purchase an item that costs several hundreds of dollars BEFORE you know that you need it. Would he do this????? Probably not - but he wants YOU to do it.\n\nDo yourself a favor and don't give this business a nickel of your money. There are plenty other places to get your eyes checked.\n\nIn response to the rebuttal from the owner - no I was NOT informed of that policy when I made the appointment and I was not informed of the policy when I arrived in fact I was 30 minutes into the appointment when I was told - by YOU!!!! You were the first person to communicate that policy.\n\nI invite you to bring the receipts, show the text that you sent me about the policy - the email that you sent about it - the recording of the phone call when I was told. The policy notification that I signed when I arrived - so we are supposed to take you on your word????\n\nYes, I was offered another appointment - that is true. However, I work Monday - Friday and I was there at the time and made the call.\n\nBut the fact remains (by looking at the multiple reviews citing the exact same problem) you DO NOT notify people about your policy. No matter what you say - because if I knew I would not have driven up from Los Lunas.\n\nRegardless - you will NEVER get another dime from me, my family, friends and nearly everyone that I know who wears glasses.","updateTime":"2025-12-02T21:51:53.297868Z"},{"reviewer":"Hali Cheng","starRating":"ONE","comment":"I went in to pick up my daughter's prescriptions and mentioned that we were going to look at Costco to purchase her contacts. Noone politely explained that sample lenses were for those who are going to purchase from their store. (Btw, this is not the case at my eye doctor's office. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left all of the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Eden is the one who helped me with choosing glasses. The glasses I had previously from my old doctor had bifocals. I hated them and could not get used to them. They gave me a headache and it made me very dizzy walking while wearing them. So instead of wearing them and being able to see, I decided I would rather not have the headaches and dizziness and not be able to see. I was not familiar with progressive lenses so when Eden suggested them I was unsure if I wanted them. My previous glasses were either see far, or see up close. There was no middle ground. Eden was very informative. She sat with me and explained exactly how they worked and why she thought I would like them much better than my bifocals. I decided to give them a try, and I am SO glad I did! They were easy to get used to and I can finally see because I am able to wear them all the time with no issues. It made a huge difference and a much nicer experience going to a place where the staff actually takes the time to sit with their patients and explain everything and make sure they are comfortable with their glasses. All good with her. I then purchased new frames and lenses from a Pearl Vision sales person. I told the sales person I wanted to spend the money this time and get thinner lenses than the lenses I had purchased with my last pair of glasses about 1.5 years ago. The sales person said that I can do this and quoted me an additional cost of around $120 for thinner lenses and she again confirmed that my lenses would be thinner. I was so excited!! I had an eye disease years ago and my lenses tend to be on the thicker side so this was a HUGE SELLING POINT that won me over. The sales person confirmed this information, she totaled everything up and I then purchased the new glasses.\n\nI picked up my new glasses yesterday and when I got home I noticed my lenses looked exactly the same thickness as my old glasses. I went back to Pearl Vision today and spoke with another salesperson who confirmed that I had paid for thinner lenses. This salesperson said I needed to speak to the manager. Once I got to sit down with the manager who said his name was Phil Pacheco, I told him I had purchased thinner lenses and did not get thinner lenses. He proceeded to say that because my frames are a bit larger in diameter than my previous pair of glasses the lenses end up being thicker due to the frames being larger. WHAT??? I reminded him the salesperson SOLD ME THINNER LENSES AND NEVER MENTIONED THAT BECAUSE THE FRAMES I SELECTED ARE A LITTLE LARGER MY LENSES WILL END UP BEING THICKER AND IN THE END WILL BE THE SAME THICKNESS AS MY OLD GLASSES. Three times I tried to explain that his salesperson sold these lenses incorrectly. She promised me something they could not deliver according to store manager Phil Pacheco. Phil’s resolution? I will order you a new pair of lenses in the cheaper material and you will need to leave your new glasses. No acknowledgement that the glasses sold to me never could have had thinner lenses. I never even heard the word sorry from him. Its to bad Phil does not understand how important my glasses are to me as I cannot see at all without glasses due to my eye disease. I today, August 12 went through exactly what dozens of other people have said. Mine was a little different experience than most I’m an 81-year-old retired male that has Humana insurance that gives me one free eye exam a year and $150 credit towards any Glass purchase +20% of the difference. I actually called them up and Humana set up the appointment at Pearle vision for me two weeks in advance. I received a text immediately from someone a girl called Eden. She reminded me to bring my insurance card she reminded me to bring a list of my prescriptions and reminded me that my appointment for my exam was set for 1 PM today. I got there quite a bit early and stood in my car outside. Their door is locked. someone has to buzz you in And I was greeted with the representative. She gave me a whole list of items that I had to fill out. I had to email my list of prescriptions why they needed that I’ll never know I said am I going to start my eye exam now she said no we would like you to look at Glasses and see whether you liked any of Glasses that we have I mentioned to her that I had already gone to Costco and Sam’s Club, but I needed a prescription but I would be glad to look at their glasses and if they were in line with what I was buying, I would be more than happy to purchase it from them. She showed me many many pairs of glasses, and I picked out a couple of them and then she informed me that before I could have my eye exam I had to purchase glasses from them I said well why can’t I just get my eye exam and decided a later time to purchase the glasses she said no I have to do the glasses. I said I don’t think that is what supposed to happen I’m going to tell you you can write up your offer for what the Glasses will cost me but I insist that I get an eye exam and that’s what I came in for today. She quietly went to the computer and spent about 15 minutes, figuring out a price on a pair of glasses after she figured it out she said she had to go over to the other desk and show another woman her estimate she came back and said that the price of the glasses including eye exam including all my deductibles would be over $1000 I said I do not Have any interest in purchasing Glasses for over $1000 when I can get a similar pair of glasses for only 25% of that amount the frames that I picked out were exactly the price that I picked out at Costco and Sam’s which was approximately $150 I said I am insisting that I get the eye exam. The other woman then came over and said you have to buy the glasses and pay for them before you can have the eye exam. I said that’s ridiculous. I said I’m a former state lodging inspector for 10 years. I’ve had my own businesses. This place has horrible customer service. Like almost comically bad.. First visit I had a 3 o'clock appointment. At 3:45 I asked how soon I would be seen and was told it would be an additional 30-45 minutes so I had to leave. Believe it or not I have other things going on and can't designate 3 hours of my day for an eye exam. When rescheduling (huge mistake) I asked how we could prevent that from happening and was told that I couldn't. The best I could hope to do was schedule my appointment first thing in the morning or right after lunch and hope to be the first one in.\n\nThey will not allow you to peruse or touch the display frames in your own. You will be followed around by someone who collects those frames and sanitizes them. For most people this is retail hell. Why are you sanitizing frames? This and the locked front door SCREAM to you that this is a building run by neurotic control freaks\n\nI was told that my frames were ready and I get there but only one pair was ready.\n\nNext I get a call that my second pair was ready, so I leave my office early to make it there before they close (all available info AND the employee I spoke to) said they were open until 6. I got there at 5:15 and they had closed shop.\n\nWill never go there again. I spent $2000 this year on mine and my daughter's exams and frames. That money will go to someone else next year.\n\nEdit: I was concerned that I was overreacting but after checking out this locations other reviews from the previous 6 months it seems that the themes are consistent. DO NOT COME HERE. EVER!","updateTime":"2025-04-02T04:05:51.207576Z"},{"reviewer":"Scott Snyder","starRating":"ONE","comment":"March 2024 - I wouldn't go back there if I was going blind. Ok, maybe not that but my most recent experience was the worst customer experience. All over $20\n\n5 years ago Dr. Pacheco saved my vision. She found some abnormalities and I needed surgery to remove some non-cancerous tumors from my eye. Since then, I go back every 6 months. I'll forever be grateful.\n\nI get my glasses online. It's cheaper than Pearle with exponentially more options. I get it, their revenue comes from eyewear, not eye insurance. Still, I've always been welcomed when I needed an adjustment, until now.\n\nWhen the woman asked if I purchased them there, I said no but that I was a long time patient. Let me ask my manager. It was going to be $20 since I didn't get them there. I asked to see the manager.\n\nHe came out with an attitude. When I explained my situation, he said well, they weren't supposed to be doing it anyway and they won't do it now without payment. So, you're willing to lose a long-time patient over $20? Shrug. He said where did you get them? Online I replied. Well, maybe they can help you. And he walked away.\n\nI've been in sales for over 20 years. No way would I ever purposely lose what would have been a lifetime customer over $20. But he was dead set on proving a point. Well, you lost my wife too. Not to mention all the referrals we gave them. We were a walking billboard for Dr. Pacheco and her team. Sad.\n\nEdit - After posting this, I read through other recent reviews. Seems I'm not the only one having a similar experience w the manager. And now that they \"won't\" give you your prescription unless you get your glasses there is tantamount to fraud.\n\nWhere are you in all this Dr. Pacheco? Pearle is dragging your good name and great work through the mud.","updateTime":"2025-03-24T20:51:46.048427Z"},{"reviewer":"William Brooks","starRating":"TWO","comment":"$800 Mistake. They did not take my insurance- but I knew that going in. At first i was told my copay for an eye exam would be $49. Later on the call the young lady said, \"you'll have to get your glasses through us, or your copay for the exam will be $149!! I said \"sorry, what did you say\", in disbelief. She repeated the message so i just said no thanks. Wow! That seems really illegal! I wont be going there","updateTime":"2025-03-21T23:23:11.935948Z"},{"reviewer":"Anthony Obregon","starRating":"FIVE","comment":"Great service and a selection of quality frames. Having never had glasses before I didn't realize how inflated the prices were at these type of clinics. I ended up not really needing my glasses as I decided to go a different route to have my vision corrected but if you need glasses these are very overpriced. I would highly recommend Doctor Pacheco, but I would get my glasses elsewhere.","updateTime":"2025-03-14T22:20:08.086492Z"},{"reviewer":"Melanie Garcia","starRating":"ONE","comment":"I have been going to this business for many years. I referred my family and friends for their good service.\nI scheduled an appointment online n I was called by a young lady to confirm my appointment and asked who my insurance was with. She went it telling me that I had to buy there glasses/lenses and that they ranged between $300-700 after insurance. She wanted to make sure I had those funds. If not, I was not going to be given my prescription. I was surprised and I had asked to speak with a manger. I called about twice and he never came on the line.\nFinally, I called the next day and I spoke with a “Bill” and stated he was the manager. I had explained to him how I was treated and that the young girl demanded I have the funds to pay for glasses/lenses there. Bill ‘the manager’ went on telling me that Dr. Sharon Pacheco needed to make profit for her services. That the insurance we use don’t profit her since we as consumers get a discount. By this time I was fed up by the way he was taking to me and I told him I want to speak to someone other than him like Dr. Sharon Pacheco. Bill ‘ the manager’ stated she will not talk to anyone. I told Bill that I was going to visit the office and report him. He said if I went by the business he would escort me out and take me to the alley. He also states he didn’t want my business anymore. I could not deal with his verbal abuse and Threat. I told him I was going to report him to corporate and he straight out stated “ Go ahead, nothing will be done to me!”\nWhy I am writing this review, I do not want anyone to go thru this kind of verbal abuse and threat. I hope the Pearle Vision takes this review seriously before someone gets hurt by Bill ‘ the manager’ .\nPlease stay away from this business on menaul.","updateTime":"2025-03-04T02:52:57.613625Z"},{"reviewer":"G T","starRating":"FIVE","comment":"It's a 3 hour drive one way to travel to Desert Mountain Eyecare/Pearl Vision Albuquerque. The Knowledge and Expertise of the Dr. and Staff are above and beyond. The Eye Exams for myself and my wife were conducted and the results were gone over in an easy to understand explanations. The selection of frames to choose from was amazing and the Professionalism of the Staff was great. I can't imagine going anywhere else for our Eyecare.","updateTime":"2025-02-24T23:18:23.744244Z"},{"reviewer":"Rachel Henderson","starRating":"ONE","updateTime":"2025-02-17T20:12:35.957339Z"}]
