The pricing is really pricey but the staff makes up for it with their customer service. Any of their low rating reviews are because of price, I originally gave a rating low because of the pricing, but when you think about it, quality glasses are hard to come by. If you have the money to spend then it’s def worth it, if you’re on a budget then this probably isn’t the best place to go. The staff is really cool though. I’ve never had a problem with any of them. I have been a patient of Dr. Pacheco for many years, following her from Los Lunas to 2 locations in Albuquerque but will no longer get services from Pearl Vision. I scheduled an appointment online and they called me back to ask if I was planning on purchasing glasses. I said I was not sure as I might not require new glasses. I was informed that they would not file insurance unless I also purchased glasses - that this was their new business model. Previously, they would not give me my prescription without a fight and said they would only give me my pupil distance measurement for a charge of $25. This seems against NM Board of Optometry regulations and is, certainly, unethical. I am not sure what the long term business plan is of the owner of this Pearl Vision but I cannot imagine them staying in business with this kind of customer service.I gave them a 2nd and 3rd chance because I do like Dr. Pacheco, but I will no longer do business here.","updateTime":"2025-12-07T00:29:09.863265Z"},{"reviewer":"Knutt Peterson (F S Caveman)","starRating":"ONE","comment":"The short of it: do not go here because it's expensive as hell, and they do not honor their word. Details: I went to this Pearle vision because they had the frames I was looking for and they took my insurance. I have top of the line vision insurance. First I will say the the guy who helped me was helpful friendly and knew what he was doing. My insurance covered the cost of the $270 frames completely. It also covered a fair amount of the other things. The total cost for these glasses with progressive lenses and all the coatings (which you can't opt out of) was just over $900. After insurance I still had to pay $430. What does this say about our country when a pair of glasses cost $900. That's as much as a nice set of tires! I live 3 hours away and needed the glasses to be shipped to me as taking one day off of work to get glasses is enough. As I paid for the glasses the guy helping me said that the shipping would be free. I thought that was nice as the glasses were so expensive.\n\nToday I got a call saying the glasses were ready for me to pick up and I told the guy that I needed them shipped to me. He said that it would be $42. I mentioned that I was told it would be free. He said no. I talked to the manager and he said no. I said that is what I was told and that he should honor it. He said he would pay half. After some back and forth, and still a no, I agreed. I need the glasses. Transferred back to the first guy who had a hard time comprehending my card info, but finally got it.\nI do not recommend this Pearle vision for the reasons mentioned above. If you do go there lube up, because you are going to get bent over.\n\nUpdate after the owners response: Nice AI edited response, or you're just getting good at it. Would he do this????? Probably not - but he wants YOU to do it.\n\nDo yourself a favor and don't give this business a nickel of your money. There are plenty other places to get your eyes checked.\n\nIn response to the rebuttal from the owner - no I was NOT informed of that policy when I made the appointment and I was not informed of the policy when I arrived in fact I was 30 minutes into the appointment when I was told - by YOU!!!! You were the first person to communicate that policy.\n\nI invite you to bring the receipts, show the text that you sent me about the policy - the email that you sent about it - the recording of the phone call when I was told. However, I work Monday - Friday and I was there at the time and made the call.\n\nBut the fact remains (by looking at the multiple reviews citing the exact same problem) you DO NOT notify people about your policy. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left all of the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Eden is the one who helped me with choosing glasses. The glasses I had previously from my old doctor had bifocals. I hated them and could not get used to them. They gave me a headache and it made me very dizzy walking while wearing them. So instead of wearing them and being able to see, I decided I would rather not have the headaches and dizziness and not be able to see. I was not familiar with progressive lenses so when Eden suggested them I was unsure if I wanted them. My previous glasses were either see far, or see up close. There was no middle ground. Eden was very informative. She sat with me and explained exactly how they worked and why she thought I would like them much better than my bifocals. I decided to give them a try, and I am SO glad I did! They were easy to get used to and I can finally see because I am able to wear them all the time with no issues. This place has horrible customer service. Like almost comically bad.. I have unfortunately had to deal with them on 4 occasions over the past three weeks and all four were bad to varying degrees.\n\nFor starters, they keep their doors locked so customers have to stand outside until one of the employees decides to go open the door for you.\n\nThen they cannot guarantee their appointment times. First visit I had a 3 o'clock appointment. At 3:45 I asked how soon I would be seen and was told it would be an additional 30-45 minutes so I had to leave. Believe it or not I have other things going on and can't designate 3 hours of my day for an eye exam. The best I could hope to do was schedule my appointment first thing in the morning or right after lunch and hope to be the first one in.\n\nThey will not allow you to peruse or touch the display frames in your own. Bill ‘the manager’ went on telling me that Dr. Sharon Pacheco needed to make profit for her services. That the insurance we use don’t profit her since we as consumers get a discount. By this time I was fed up by the way he was taking to me and I told him I want to speak to someone other than him like Dr. Sharon Pacheco. Bill ‘ the manager’ stated she will not talk to anyone. I told Bill that I was going to visit the office and report him. He said if I went by the business he would escort me out and take me to the alley. He also states he didn’t want my business anymore. I could not deal with his verbal abuse and Threat. I told him I was going to report him to corporate and he straight out stated “ Go ahead, nothing will be done to me!”\nWhy I am writing this review, I do not want anyone to go thru this kind of verbal abuse and threat. I hope the Pearle Vision takes this review seriously before someone gets hurt by Bill ‘ the manager’ .\nPlease stay away from this business on menaul.","updateTime":"2025-03-04T02:52:57.613625Z"},{"reviewer":"G T","starRating":"FIVE","comment":"It's a 3 hour drive one way to travel to Desert Mountain Eyecare/Pearl Vision Albuquerque. The Knowledge and Expertise of the Dr. and Staff are above and beyond. The Eye Exams for myself and my wife were conducted and the results were gone over in an easy to understand explanations. The selection of frames to choose from was amazing and the Professionalism of the Staff was great. I can't imagine going anywhere else for our Eyecare.","updateTime":"2025-02-24T23:18:23.744244Z"},{"reviewer":"Rachel Henderson","starRating":"ONE","updateTime":"2025-02-17T20:12:35.957339Z"},{"reviewer":"K. I found their prices to be pretty typical of most vision places. If you are coming here just for glasses, it's a fine place to go. I leave this review in hopes others won't end up the same predicament regarding obtaining contacts.\nThe issue I found here was that they do not give you your contact prescription, so you can only order through them. I work in a profession where I can get hit in the face, and anyone with glasses know, that hurts. I prefer contacts at work... so to have to pay three times as much here, really sucks. I would have even paid to have access to my contact prescription records but that wasn't offered as an option. Their excuse was because the contact lens prescription is so specific and you shouldn't use it elsewhere. This feels dishonest. I have done that for years through other doctors- getting my prescription from them, and ordering through a different site. I never had any problems, and saved hundreds. It feels kind of scummy to withhold your prescription from you just to get what feels like a commission out of you ordering contacts through them. It's distasteful.\nI think it should be outright disclosed to you that you will not be directly given your contact lense prescription information before you pay the extra few hundred for the appointment. I will not be returning. Now I have to go pay out of pocket at a different place to get access to my own prescription. I'm set back almost $600 because of this debaucle. I would not go through with contacts through this location.","updateTime":"2025-01-21T18:51:51.522912Z"}]
