They charged for a service I had declined on the documents upon arrival. They needed to make that adjustment. They the DR. was upselling us on new prescription that helps the vision stabilize vs getting worse. I chose not to take that option then he still tried to get us to make that purchase. It felt like pressure sales. Then upon picking up my daughter’s glasses I requested they be adjusted to fit her face, the lady used her hands to bend the arms of the glasses to make them tighter on her hands. I didn’t see this happening, I called today and they have a machine that does this adjustment. My daughter glasses are slipping down her nose. If this had been handled properly the first time, I wouldn’t have to go back & get them adjusted again. This is my 1st time experience & most likely my last! I was there twice.\nFirst time I went to get prescription glasses with a prescription i already had from a different location in Lyndhurst. Johnny is a marvel, smart and has a pleasant presence, he is respectful and genuinely a nice person. The second time I went to pick up my eye glasses that were ready surprisingly fast. The older white guy adjusted my new pair of glasses fast and efficiently.\nI had medical mutual plus Eyemed insight insurance. The first doctor notified me that it was DEFINITELY time for cataract removal, however, due to cornea swelling, I needed to discontinue use of contact lenses for a couple weeks, return for another scan to monitor improvement and then be scheduled fir the cataract removal. I did not return to Pearl until November. At the most recent visit, I was informed that I was seeing almost 20/20 and that the cataract removal (although needing definite removal per previous exam) would not be covered by insurance.because they were not (severe) enough. Further, the cost of glasses were extremely high price so I did not order with Pearl. I found suitable frames and and lenses at WALMART for an acceptable price! But the worst part because I attempted to look past the attitude was I got charged for services I didn’t even ask for and didn’t realize it until after I left. The final straw was they got my prescription for my contacts messed up. The first staff member struggled to locate my plan and, without any attempt to call my insurance provider, informed me that my insurance was not accepted and that they had never heard of it. The conversation was conducted in a way that lacked discretion, with multiple employees chiming in on the issue. While they may have intended to help, their collective tone and manner made me feel inadequate and as if I were a burden.\n\nIt was clear from the staff's reactions that they did not believe I had a valid insurance plan and were expecting me to leave. I was made to feel like a problem they were waiting to get rid of, all in a conversation that was audible to anyone in the store.\n\nThis entire situation could have been avoided if the initial employee had simply called my insurance provider as a standard part of their process instead of making assumptions. Instead, without my own initiative and patience, I would have been turned away without receiving the exam I needed. I had to call my insurance provider myself and hand my phone to the staff to resolve the issue. I had to also inquire multiple times to make sure everything was covered. There was no, \"oh our mistake, you are covered etc\".\n\nI believe this experience highlights a need for better training for your staff on both insurance verification and professional customer service. I suggest implementing a clear protocol that includes:\n\nA standard procedure for verifying coverage that involves contacting the insurance company directly before making any assumptions or turning a customer away.Take the extra step to make sure, before reacting and making a customer feel like they've done something wrong. I can't imagine how many other people this might have happened to who just left.\n\nTraining on discretion and communication, ensuring all conversations about a customer's personal or financial information are handled respectfully and privately.\n\nEmphasis on respectful and empathetic customer service, ensuring that every customer feels valued, regardless of their insurance provider or situation.\n\nAs a direct result of this experience, I chose not to purchase glasses from your location. I simply did not feel comfortable giving my business to a team that treated me so poorly initially.
