Stupid. The optician seems completely apathetic to the competitive environment and how customer service is the key to customer retention. He carried a condescending deposition and seemed annoyed by the presence customers in his store.\n\nYes, you have signage regarding your 3% surcharge for credit card payment, but it is a simple courtesy to ask the customer if the 3% surcharge is okay before swiping their card.\n\nThen to say \"everyone\" is charging a 3% surcharge is completely false. I purchased new frames and lenses less than a year ago from my 4.8 star practice...no 3% surcharge. My wife's last purchase from an online provider...no 3% surcharge.\n\nUpon the request to cancel the transaction and run it as cash or debit, the optician smugly replied they are a \"high-end custom lens retailer\" and we never do refunds. Don't insult your customers' intelligence. Everyone knows POS systems can refund and rerun a transaction.\n\nMy change in insurance and maybe some 1990's nostalgia lured me back, but it is clear why Pearle is getting crushed by the competition. Bad assumption that you can overcharge and mistreat customers simply because you are a point of access to the Essilor brand. When we visited the reciptionist took us to a room asked to peep into few machines with rays before the Dr saw us. The Dr didn’t seem to care about the patients minimal interactions. We had to proactivly ask questions, which should have been other wise.\n\nPost that the billing drama. The recipitionist said we need to pay Co-Pay and the $39 for the retinal pictures which we opted \"No\". The receptionist was very unprofessional and rude, she said it is mandate and we should pay and find some other care for next time. Indirectly she said go somewhere else. The female at reception needs some customer service & etiquette training. Or she should find a profession that doesn’t require working with the public. No respect at all for me as a patient or my time.\n\nIt is not ethical to charge customer for service which they did not want. I do not authorize the $39 charge which was charged billed for both my wife and myself. I seriously want to report this but their customer care support phone number does not work and they do not have email to report this issue to their higher management.\n\nI recommend people to very cautious and ask about this retinal test upfront and if they say it is mandate find some other place unless you want the service. I made a compliant and was told my complaint would be followed up on with the store manager later. That never happened. customer care is nonexistent with this company. I suggest going to some other eye glass provider. I ordered almost the top of the line glasses with progressive lenses and transition tinting. After 2 weeks the glasses came in. The first thing I noticed was the transition lenses wouldn’t get nearly dark enough outside to make a difference. The second thing I noticed was the progressive lenses were of little to no benefit to me because there was only a pin point area that was actually in focus when I would look at things up close. This caused me to crane my neck to see clearly. I went back in for 2 separate adjustments before ultimately asking to have these glasses just made as prescription reading glasses. After another 2 weeks those glasses came in. They seem to work fine but when I asked if there was a refund from going from a top of the line lense to this set with no progressive lenses and no transition tinting, the salesman said absolutely not there are no refunds. When I asked what would happen if I had to have new glasses made and went from a plain set of readers to a top of the line set, if there would be an upcharge. He said absolutely there would be. So my question is, where is this 100% satisfaction guarantee that Pearle Vision has?? I ended up paying about $800 for a set of prescription reading glasses. Doesn’t seem right to me.
