Day of my exam the staff was very cold. We didn’t get welcomed, checking in felt like a burden and they seemed to prioritize calls vs those in store. The exam itself self was fine, after though the doctor gave me one pair of trial lenses without asking me a preference other than brand (didn’t ask if I’d want monthly/daily, overnight wear) it’s been a few years since I had contacts so I just went with it. When he took me out front to check out, I ended up waiting a while for the manager to finish with other clients to check me out, even though there were other staff up there. That was all for exam day, a week and a half later I accidentally loose one of my contacts and I only had the one trial pair. I call to see if I can get a single lense just until my contacts I ordered through them came in, I was left on hold for 15 minutes waiting for the desk person to ask the manager. That was after they just tried to order me another box, something I was not looking to do. They didn’t have the brand and type of lense they gave me before so they gave me a different one. When I went to pick it up I asked about my order if they knew where it was (also not greeted, just glared at by desk person on the phone and manager with a customer) , manager said that they checked the tracking while I was coming to the store and they were still out for delivery. I knew this was false because after they ordered the contacts I got tracking information and my contacts were delivered 3 days ago. They said that it could’ve been put in a different box and anyone in the strip mall could have my contacts. Didn’t really offer much help with that. While I was in picking up the contact there were multiple times where the person on desk would tell the person over the phone that they would need to ask the manager about that. It just seems they can’t trust their employees other than the one manager who is stretched thin. I will not be going back, and I will be getting my contacts from somewhere else. I went in to pick up my contacts, had them check the amount that’s supposed to be covered by insurance, knowing I have $180 covered but they were only covering $160 according to Pearle. On top of that the first set they quoted me on was $32 a box, why did they use the whole $160 for two boxes at $32? I've noticed my vision changing so decided it was time for an actual, extensive eye exam. All I've had prior is the quick \"cover an eye and read this line etc.\" with the DLD or just regular physical check-ups.\n\nThe things that went well:\n- I was able to book online for a last minute, same day appt.\n- I received a follow up text confirming the appt.\n- I completed an eye exam.\n\nThings that did not go well:\n- The doctor I had originally scheduled online with, wasn't even in the office that day (remember I booked same day?) So I saw the other doctor. This was fine was fine because I still just needed an exam.\n- I was in the office for an hour and a half, even though the scheduling blocks for an eye exam were only 20 minutes.\n- The website made it sound like eye dilation or high-res images were optional but recommended, but the paperwork I was given confirmed it was not optional. I hadn't prepared for the rest of my day to have my eyes dilated so I chose the extra cost option, high-res photos.\n- I felt like I was given poor and vague instructions on what to do to use the machine to take high-res images of my eyes. And when I clearly wasn't understanding what I was supposed to be doing, the same instructions were repeated, so I just kept feeling more ignorant.\n- When the doctor finally came out, he grabbed my clipboard and just gestured for me to follow him. I was the only one in the waiting room, but he didn't even say/confirm my name.\n- After the exam seemed to be completed, the doctor showed me the high-res images of my eyes (we eventually did get them) and I was told I had a freckle in my eye. since One of my eyes seemed a bit more blurry than the other, (which is why I was even here in the first place) I know what freckles on my arms look like but I wasn't sure what that really meant in terms of eyes/vision. I wasn't sure if it meant it was a tumor or something else that they used that term for, that could affect vision. So I asked what he meant, and he looked at me puzzled and gave me the full scientific term for a freckle... but didn't answer my real question I was wondering.\nSo if you're reading this, and also were wondering - it was confirmed that this literally means the freckles you can get on your skin, you can also have on your eyes on rare occasions, often since birth. This answer would've been more welcome.\n- He said we were done and grabbed my clipboard and we left the exam room.\n- He handed my clipboard to the office manager and said she'd ring me up.\n- I went to her, hoping for more information, letting her know I've never worn glasses before and wasn't sure what to do. She told me to look at glasses and told me what my insurance covers, and she'd build a quote. (Note: I still have no idea if I even NEED glasses, or how bad my vision is, or anything like that, because I thought the doctor would go over this with me)\n- I tried a few on but ultimately told her I'd need to think about it. I called in and notified, they were helpful in getting me in for the next appointment. The doctor I saw was really nice. I actually thought we had a game plan going for my contacts. Probably the only good part of my experience. Unfortunately, the people currently working in the floor aren’t very personable. I came in and checked in at the desk, didn’t even get a look in the eye or any real acknowledgement I was standing there. I was told to wait after my exam for the one appointed to help assist me. She spent a half hour on the phone and she then talking with her coworkers in the back room. She eventually came out and turned to me, quoted my premium, right as I was moving to the name brand glasses section. She gave me this look like I couldn’t afford to be in that section. I wouldn’t have thought that if it was just a casual reminder, but nope, it was a very pointed mean look. I finally stopped and stood there for ten minutes waiting with frames before she turned to me and asked if I “needed help or something” in this really snarky way. I was taken off guard, and I asked her if my lenses would fall under my benefit or not, she assured me it would, so I said stack the extra lens stuff so I can meet my $300, if that’s how it works. She didn’t talk to me the whole time after that, no questions or anything. She then told me my member responsibility would be $270 extra for the lenses after stacking on whatever she could. When she saw my face, she started to grin in this weird way, I was visibly shocked. Obviously, there was miscommunication on what I meant by falling under my benefits, I went to correct the situation, but she gave me this look and started fiddling with the computer like I was wasting her time. The reaction and the attitude was really insulting. I told her I probably wouldn’t be purchasing anything then, and she then told me she was canceling my trials, I said don’t, but I honestly don’t think she was listening to me. I then asked to at least get my new prescription and she tried to fight me on it saying because I didn’t purchase anything, it wouldn’t really be guaranteed to be an accurate prescription for me. I know you can’t withhold that kind of information and trying to discourage me from getting it is weird. This whole experience felt like walking into the twilight zone, I don’t know if it’s because people working there are super young and the environment pushes them to act like a zombie, but it’s the most unfriendly environment I’ve ever been in. Super unimpressed with this location. I used to come here throughout my childhood, now I remember why I left in the first place. I don’t usually write reviews, and I understand when someone’s having a bad day, or simple customer service miscommunication issues. This was clearly a person who does the bare minimum to get by and doesn’t take the time to practice customer service skills in her work day to day. As someone who also does customer service, I see co-workers like this every day, super disappointing this is the environment being upheld. I would never feel comfortable coming back after this. I honestly can’t believe that just happened.\nI was really upset after. It was a really bad experience and it made me feel like I was a punching bag for some random lady’s issues. Arlo was very helpful at the front desk upon first visiting this optometrist. As was Brenda the manager.\nI received awesome care on the clinical side as well as the sales side from the front desk. The issue arose after spending over 1100 dollars on a pair of Gucci frames. Then being sold on all the bells and whistles, anti glare, scratch resisting lenses, plus transitions, and including the Pearle Eyewear Protection Plan (PEPP). Which was heavily sold to me because of the cost of the frames and lenses them selves. Jump forward less than a month and half. I have a Burmese puppy that got ahold of my glasses. Scratching the lenses a bending the left arm of the frames. Upon bringing them in to Pearle. I was greeted once again by Arlo. Who recognized me from about a month or so ago. Since she was the one that had helped me out with the initial sale and and sold me on their warranty program or (PEPP). As we sat down to look up my account she realized she had forgot to charge me for the (PEPP) coverage, at the day of sale. Simple mistake since we had sat and talked about work, and how her mother used to work at the same company I work for. Brenda hearing us comes over to the desk that Arlo is helping me at and asks very sternly. \"What's the problem?\" Arlo full heartedly admits that she remembers me coming in. She also states she remembers me asking for all the bells and whistles to her manager Brenda. Brenda responds with \"well now we are out the 800 dollars for the frames\" she then looks at me and says \"Do you have a receipt ?\" Arlo trying to tell her that its her mistake for forgetting to add the insurance on to the initial purchase. Brenda responds with \"well once you walk out the door they are sold theirs nothing we can do.\" I explain the situation mentioned above to Brenda and she responds with. \"If you had paid our tills would have been over at the end of that day and we would have caught it\" completely ignoring the fact that her employee had explained the situation and admitted fault. Instead of trying to rectify the problem. She then turns to me again.
