Transition Lenses & Eyeglasses
Looking for a new pair of eyeglasses? Contact your neighborhood Pearle Vision EyeCare Center to ask about photochromic lenses. Also known as Transition® lenses, these glasses are clear indoors and automatically darken when exposed to sunlight. These types of lenses can offer visual comfort for light sensitive people when staring at a digital screen and when spending time outside. Learn more about Transition® eyeglasses below and how they can benefit you.
What Are Transition® Lenses?
Transition® lenses are eyeglasses that are designed to be clear when used indoors and automatically darken in brighter conditions. They are also referred to as light-adaptive lenses and variable tint lenses.
How Do Transition® Eyeglasses Work?
Transition® Signature adaptive lenses are coated with a special chemical, known as silver chloride, that is activated by the UV radiation in sunlight. Since UV rays can penetrate through clouds, Transition® lenses work even on cloudy days. Once outside, your Transition® eyeglasses will begin to darken.
