The doctor is the only genuinely friendly professional working. The rest of the staff all likely believe themselves underpaid (and are probably so); but they act accordingly. While one person is reluctantly accepting your insurance (with a scowl), another is aggressively pushing their overpriced frames while silently judging you. I could practically cut the tension with a knife after multiple polite refusals. Testing equipment was dirty and (at one point) had to wipe the lenses clean myself, before I felt confident in my prescription. I'd knock another star off for how bad the scheduling experience was, but unfortunately, this is the way almost every office is set up to function these days, and it feels like its been this way for decades. The whole enterprise now feels entirely arcane, invasive, and painfully inefficient in today's day. On a Saturday, I needed to see an optometrist right away. I had an infection on my nose where my glasses sit, and wearing glasses was preventing it from healing and making it worse, so I badly needed to switch to contact lenses. I live in Scottsdale, and Dr. Socolof was the only optometrist having an opening, so I drove to Dove Valley.\n\nI have decades of experience wearing contact lenses but had none. I told Dr. Socolof I was interested in monthly multi-focal lenses, daily multi-focal lenses, and daily lenses having no reading correction. She happily obliged and gave me samples of Cooper-Vision multi-focal dailies and monthlies, and Acuvue dailies, and wrote prescriptions for all 3 + glasses. I would have *never* considered Cooper-Vision lenses had it not been for Dr. Socolof, but they are hands-down the most comfortable lenses I have ever worn. From the moment I insert the dailies in the morning to 14-18 hours later when I remove them, I'm unaware I'm wearing contacts. The monthlies are almost as good.
