Emily, the optical technician, explained my EyeMed benefits and told me I had excellent coverage, including up to $200 toward frames.\nAfter my exam with Dr. Luong, I returned to Emily to choose frames. I told her I planned to reuse my current Oakley frames, which I paid about $150 for and still liked. Emily encouraged me to take advantage of the $200 frame benefit instead, and directed me to their Oakley selection. I didn’t find anything that fit well and told her I’d stick with my existing frames.\nAt that point, Emily brought over a pair of Prada frames that fit better. While processing the paperwork, she told me they were $1,000 — but with a 40% promotion, it would reduce the cost. I was surprised by the price and asked if all frames were really that expensive now. She said yes, that prices had gone up across the board.\nFeeling pressured and unaware of other options, I went ahead with the purchase, believing it was my only viable choice. Later, I found out that many frames at Pearle Vision are not $1,000 and that more affordable options were available — I was simply never shown them.\nAs a senior citizen, I now feel I may have been deliberately steered toward a high-priced item. I suspect Emily may work on commission and prioritized the sale over my needs or budget.
