Never have I paid anything over $100 at the eye doctor. They charged me $70 for the test with insurance keep in mind!! Then charged me to get a contact fitting which I did agree to because I felt pressured even though like I said I came in for glasses. Then when I asked about the frames I picked out the lady acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. On top of that my insurance allows $160 for frames and they were trying to charge me $145 extra on top of that even though the frames were $170. She also did a poor job of explaining the tests being done, but I’ve done these tests multiple times, so it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me. She also charged me a bunch for various things including exams and contacts which is to be expected. She did not explain to me what the charges were for and I left mildly confused because the cost was a bit higher than years past. It could have been a change in my insurance or something else, but a breakdown would’ve helped. Ensuring health and financial literacy of patients should be top priority.\n\nThird, I was told shipping my contacts to my house costs $15. I told them it was fine and I’d pay it, but then I got a text that I needed to pick them up from their office. I told the office they were supposed to ship them to me and the correspondent responded that shipping is free and she would make a note in my profile that I was overcharged. I later got a voicemail that I was never charged for shipping; however, I have a $15 charge on my credit card for it. I was also promised an extra pair of contacts to make up for the misunderstanding, which I never received.
