Dr. Michael Tweed conducted the exam and provided me with a new prescription for glasses. However, when I received my new glasses, I found that I couldn't read license plates or signs, and overall my vision seemed worse than before. Despite Dr. Tweed’s assurance that it would take time for my eyes to adjust, I struggled with my vision both at work and while driving.\n\nI gave it a full two-week adjustment period, but my vision did not improve, and in fact, I found that my old glasses worked better than the new ones. When I returned to the store to discuss the issue, the glasses were promptly returned, but my request for a refund on the eye exam was declined. As a result, I now have to pay out of pocket for another eye exam elsewhere, as Dr. Tweed’s prescription did not resolve my vision problems.\n\nOn a positive note, I want to commend the two sales staff, Tanya and Meredith, who were exceptionally understanding and helpful throughout the process. Their professionalism and kindness were much appreciated. However, Dr. Tweed’s bedside manner was lacking, as he seemed unapproachable when I raised concerns about my prescription.\n\nOverall, while the customer service from Tanya and Meredith was excellent, the experience with Dr. Tweed and the effectiveness of the new prescription were significant letdowns. I have been coming to his Pearle Vision for a very long time, almost 10 years at my estimate. I have moved twice in that time and have stayed loyal as I changed jobs and insurance companies many time. In fact, we drive 20 mins from Naperville to see Dr Tweed. My complaints below have nothing to do with him. My complaints are 100% around the office staff.\n\nI dread going to my appointments because of how rude and incompetent the office staff are. My file is thick from years of visits but yet I need to fill out new patient paperwork every time and they seem to have trouble locating me and my husband in the system. Nothing in the office is electronic, everything is done by hand and not in a good way.\n\nToday, my husband and I came in for an appointment and we spent more time “haggling” with the staff than we did actually in the room with the dr. I understand that there is likely a commission from us getting our glasses and contacts in house but with current lean times, online is just so much cheaper. We were politely up front today about our intentions to just get our Rx and go but there was extensive back and forth as they tried to upsell us and tell us things such as, we won’t be able to use our insurance or that online is more expensive (which is a lie). The lady helping me kept trying to do the math on how much contacts cost while we waited for her to print out the Rx and when I gently declined the need to do that, she snapped back that she needed to add it in the system. This happened twice where she veered from just getting us out of there to attempt to rationalize why we are “missing out” by not ordering contacts now. I don’t understand why she needed to enter information into the insurance system if we weren’t purchasing anything but that was her retort as to why it was taking so long. We had to do this twice because of our staggered appointment time, so two fights with the office staff to just get the printout of our prescriptions. We were there for a total of almost 2 hours on what should have been a quick lunch time visit to get checked out. The icing on the cake was at the end when they went to collect our copays and my husband and I had different amounts. We had the same exam and tests done but his was inexplicably $20 more. We inquired as to why there was a difference and the worker just shrugged it off and refused to explain why. One woman shouted an amount across the room and it was more than my exam. We never saw an itemized list of anything, to the point that I am fully convinced that this location is a total rip off.\n\nWhile I am upset to say this, it’s time leave. Dr Tweed, you are an amazing eye doctor but we are going somewhere else. This location has always been a little edgy in care of the office staff but in the last few years (since a particular woman seems to have taken over leading the office staff) the quality of care and service from behind the counter has drastically declined. I was told that they couldn't do it and that no company could but that they could make me a separate pair to be used for my computer work for 50% of the normal price. I sent an email to the parent company stating how upset I was they said they would look into the problem. About a week later I received a call from Pearle in Geneva and was told that they could still make me the separate pair, but nothing else could be done. I told them I didn't want the glasses and wanted my money back. They gave me my money back and I immediately went across the street to America's Best and asked them if they could do what I needed, and they said yes. They were going to use the prescription that I had from Pearle, but I asked that they give me a new exam. So they gave me a new prescription which was different from Pearle Vision and I now have my glasses with a new prescription set as instructed. Think 1970s trashy opalescent sunglasses. Very disappointing considering how much money was wasted on these glasses. My husband's are great - no strange coatings at all. His were just all smudged and we had to clean them when we got home. They should just warn you, better yet have examples of what the coatings look like in the store.
