However when I arrived the doors were locked as they go to lunch from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. I got there around 1:57 pm as my appointment was at 2:00 pm. When they unlocked the door I jokingly told the lady that she could take the last 3 minutes that I was in no hurry. She said that she was going to tend to her normal schedule and go wrap things up. She then asked if I had an appointment and I said yes. She then said that Kennedy would help me. When I mentioned to Kennedy that Dr. Jody was amazing. She said that Dr. Jody wasn't there and that she was visiting her daughters and I wouldn't be seeing her today that I would be seeing Dr. Mark Nolan. I of course was a bit upset as I was never notified that she wouldn't be there and Kennedy asked if I wanted to postpone my appointment and I said no that I was already there. So I waited for her to get ready to take me back to do all of the pre testing that the doctor needed. I did state to Kennedy that I needed a Diabetic Eye Exam (as I recently received that diagnosis) and that I needed a letter for my primary doctor. I wasn't asked any questions or given a heads up of what the cost would be or if I wanted a contact exam. I will admit that I did state to the doctor that I used to wear contacts before I had cataracts surgery and that I was thinking about going down that road again. As I had talked to Dr. Jody about that at my last appointment and I tried doing the one contact in one eye and it didn't work out for me. After my eye exam was done the doctor said that they would order me a free pair or contacts to try and I said ok. I never said that I wanted a contact exam. I did state that I needed to have a Diabetic Eye Exam and that I needed a letter or something for my primary care doctor. So once my eye exam was done I was told by Kennedy that my total was $120. Now mind you I'm currently not working (due to medical reasons) and I have Medicaid. So when I heard that I instantly said I don't have that and if I was notified sooner I would've either said that I didn't want the contact exam or I could've came more prepared. She also told me that the Medicaid company that I'm using changed the company they use for eye coverage as that's why it was $120. I then told her that I had paid between $55 - $75 for a contact exam before, but not $120. She then said hold on and was trying to figure things out. Then she asked me if I would be paying for my contacts out of pocket and I said yes I always have as it's not covered by insurance. She was then able to get it down to $20. I then asked her if she could get me a print out of the doctors notes from my exam for my record keeping. She went back to the doctor and said something, what I don't know. Then came back to me and said that the letter I received should be enough. Due to the fact that I didn't want to cause a scene I just politely said thank you and walked away. I would like to add that I have never had any issues with asking for a copy of MY medical records. I will from now on be calling to confirm that Dr. Jody will be there when my appointment is scheduled and if not I will reschedule.\n\nUpdate:6/23/24 - Dr. Jody Matthews is still amazing. I had cataract surgery on 5/2 & 5/9 & I came back 1 month after my surgery & she was very honest with me & told me that I probably wouldn't have to buy another pair of glasses after I got this done for 10+ years. She didn't have to do that. I truly appreciate all of her knowledge & her putting herself in all of her patients shoes.\n\nDr. Jody Matthews is absolutely amazing & has a lot of amazing knowledge & is more than willing to share it. I have recommended her to several other people & will continue to do so. Thank you is just not enough. However, the woman who was on the sales floor ordering glasses and directing clients. I wish I caught her name. She was arrogant, impatient, rude, all the things you wouldn't want to represent your establishment. She was immediately frustrated we didn't complete our registration online even though I arrived 18 minutes early to do just that. She said, \"I suggest you complete that as quickly as possible, we don't know anything about you and we have a full book today\". Another woman arrived 6 minutes before her time and did not do hers either and she said, \"oh no, you will need to be rescheduled, we don't have time for that.\" While we were waiting, she said you can go ahead and look at frames (the appointment was for my son) so you can be good to go. When I asked her which frames were covered under my sons plan so we could look there. She scoffed and huffed and said, \"what's the provider, ugh, sit down\". She then proceeded to tell me my sons insurance didn't cover any materials at the business just the exam and we'd have to get frames elsewhere. After the exam, David handed us our documents and said go ahead and pick frames, and I told him we were told his insurance doesn't cover frames here. David looked puzzled and said \"oh it does\", and showed me that it does and showed me the mens area for my son, and then showed this very incompetent woman on the computer where she was wrong. She begrudgingly said \"oh, it wasn't like that before.\" And walked away with her salad.\nIt's my impression this woman was bothered by the needs of the business and the clients she was having to see, preventing her from getting to her lunch break. Hence the huffing and puffing and rescheduling clients and lying about insurance coverage. There was another young lady on the sales floor also whom was very sweet and also assisted us, during the lunch hour, mind you, and all three of the other associates were very helpful and professional. And even corrected her mistakes. This woman is a thorn in your side, and I'd correct that as soon as possible. I run a bakery and manage 12 team members, it only takes one to ruin a team. We did not pick frames, at this point, we looked around a bit, and I simply felt disgusted and quite frankly so angry that I didn't trust myself not to address her had she come out of the room after her salad.
